It happened to me on fs a few days ago - I drop one brief comment about the reduction of online activism to shibboleths (with a side order of bisexual whining) and somehow get this entire beautiful thread with zillions of tangents full of stuff about identifier etymologies, ageism, the origin of the tone argument, and some terrifyingly plausible conspiracy theories about how state infiltration of radical groups might be affecting the internet. I think this is my favourite fs thread since December 2009.
