so I had a completely lovely first day at my new job, and I have another interview tomorrow. Um.
It's another bloody agency, though they swear they have some stuff going on close to where I live. It is kinda inevitable how much more sass I gave them than I'd been handing agencies a couple of weeks ago; I just told them how much I'm earning and for how long, and how close to home it is, and now that they can try beating it. I'll be in a bit of a bind if any of them actually come up with anything of lasting worth; I'd try to cut newjob down to part-time, I guess, but they probably have more than enough weekend & evening help already. sigh, the people are indeed awesome and competent and the job is even less shitty than I thought - it is all of the things I love doing and almost none of the ones I don't - but I would be willing to not leave them in a bind if they were willing to provide anything in the way of long-term prospects. Uneven obligations are made of unfun.
I, uh, was distractedly happy enough today that I managed to leave my shawl, a book, and my notebook on top of a computer tower when we closed up at night. Um. At least the notebook is relatively new and I am about 75% sure it contains no handwritten pornography? Not that my longhand prose is in any way legible to real human beings, and since Ting got me into netbooks I have got bad at writing obscene words on paper, and if I'm putting something fandomy on paper I nearly always initial rather than name the cast & other tells (laziness is a great aid to paranoia). Most of what's in there will be Fiasco games and to-do lists and possibly meta, anyway. I set an alarm so I could call the morning shift as soon as they're in and tell them it's mine and I'll be round for it. :/
OH AND newjob is right around the corner from a comic shop, where we found a hardback copy of Amano's illustrated Tale of Genji for $6. wow.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-15 01:27 pm (UTC)(link)I may have an interview, for the first time in a while, and have a lot more of a book. Things aren't bad here. We no longer have a Becca, though, as she has gone to live in Croydon. :(

I didn't say thank you for books properly yet ;_; I also only just mailed your things (excepting the things I snuck into H's luggage). For I am terrible and have been busy doing things like not sleeping & not writing; it is funny how much time failing takes up.
