Current thinking; rent a storage unit here for our furniture, take a few odds and ends and go hide in Tampa, quite possibly until April. I can be earning easy money moving numbers around for 3 months, winter will pass; though I am kind of worried about what this will do to M's employability - on the other hand he'd have time to line up a Boston job before moving. (We have also discussed the fact that Boston clearly doesn't want us and are reconsidering Pittsburgh, because Oakland really is beautiful and I do know one lovely person there, and was chatting to her yesterday morning. We are still really wanting to go live near T&C and all their friends though). This will even make it easier to go see Z in Feb, as we can just leave the dogs down there with no drama. (Although we would definitely see about fixing up Precious's favourite gap in Dee's garden fence.)

I need to pack, and by 'pack' I mean 'finish the stupid shortfic that stress squeezed out of my head last night.'

Yeah, over the years I've learnt to plan for my hate of "life administration". Anything which needs me to make a phone call can take months. Fortunately, the internet has made things easier.

Hopefully, they'll be more places up for rent, later in the year, and you'll get somewhere nice.

I always take a while to build up the nerve for anything personal that involves the phone, yeah. M is considerably less bad at it but the last few months have worn on him too. :/ Yeah, it could get easier later in the year especially given how many students there are in Boston, but I hope that there isn't a matching rent spike to go with it.

I much prefer emailing people about important stuff, yeah, but the problem is that the person on the other end tends not to share that preference & feels free to ignore emails or give you one-sentence Blackberried responses that don't fully answer your very basic questions. What really grates is trying to communicate with someone who earns $$$$$$ more than you and who has no grasp on basic punctuation, or at least, doesn't see business emails as requiring it. It's like replying to job ads full of spelling errors (which I have nevertheless done).

Winter in Tampa would definitely be more pleasant than winter in Boston or Pittsburgh! But damn, Boston is not making this easy for you at all. :/ Dear Boston, plz stop hating dogs, thnx.

I have accidentally spent my last two birthdays in Tampa (no wait the first time was on purpose) and I am a February baby, so yes, I think I can deal with this. Mostly we were just stupid and did things in the wrong order; should've flipped our lease to month-to-month and planned to stay here til the end of April or whatever. At any rate, we are not going to die, just going to feel stupid and hate each other for a few months.
