i forgot about this and only just paid it off

You may remember that we hate the state of Maryland. Hate, hate, h8, h8, h8, h8, h8, h8.

A couple of weeks ago we received a letter from them demanding $5 in unpaid road tolls. Oh. for. fuck's. sake, this is one of the things that made us hate them in the first place; late on that Sunday night in Baltimore we passed by a tollbooth that had no one on duty and nowhere we could leave our money. We drove on because we had no idea what the hell to do and then the foghornthing went off and we knew we were going to get ticketed for this piece of fail. So we're only glad that it's merely $5 but really, MD, fuck you too.

There's something sort of funny (desperate?) about a state sending you a letter to demand a mere $5. I mean, I can grudgingly understand why a nitpicking police officer in Holland posted me a letter that demanded 95 euro for a minor speeding offense they caught on camera. But $5 just because some toll collector in Baltimore had walked off to the bathroom?! >.<

But if mailing the letter and dealing with your reply costs more than $5, then paying it is an act of revenge. :lol: (Do they accept cash - an odd combination of notes and coins? Or several cheques?)

I already paid online to spare us the cost of a stamp, but eeeeee, I shall have to bear that in mind for next time. There's nothing like innocent trolling when it comes to dealing with these things. (There is likely to be a next time - we don't use any toll-roads around here but the northeast is riddled with them, so it's very likely to happen more often if we ever get this moving thing sorted out.)
