(no subject)

this week, it has lived up to exactly none of the industrious aspirations I had for it. No writing, worked overtime, little else of use accomplished except for a bunch of open flathunt tabs. EVEN OUR ORIGINAL DOGSITTING ARRANGEMENT FELL THROUGH but we seem to have figured out a new one. The only thing I have crossed off any list whatsoever is finishing Z's silly christmas present. I may even try to crawl to the post office with it on monday.

one day, life will be worth all the effort.

Aw, you made me a present! *snuggles* Thank you very much. You have been generous to me lately...

(Lj down so no OpenId possible.)

Yes and no. We are still in line to buy a house and our solicitor is still advising us not to go ahead until he knows why the current owner hasn't paid a water bill in 20 years: the solicitor's fear is that the reason may come to light at an inauspicious moment and we may be cut off. *sigh* And this was going so well. Mortgage approved really quickly and everything...

We'll still have no.30 till the end of December at least, even if we've moved in the middle of the month. It will be very strange to leave as it has been home for thirty years. :s Oh, well.

I think Jess'ca is right that water can't legally be cut off. However, the Ministry of Defence has many options open to it. Our vendor's deceased husband was a lieutenant-colonel and they bought this house at a discount twenty years ago straight off the MOD (I think it may have been their home before that - it was certainly officer's quarters), and though the vendor has been asking Thames Water to send her a bill for years, TW haven't obliged. The fear is that the MOD has been paying the water bill all along. While they can only claim for six years' worth of repayments under English civil law, that's still six years' worth of water bills our vendor doesn't want to get all at once.

Then again, if she doesn't stump up £2500-ish for water, we may not be able to buy her house for substantially more... eek.

Is that "amazing" as in far better than I deserve, or "amazing" in terms of bizarre stuff happening in it? :p

Ugh work. Why does it exist/why do we need it/fuck it all to goddamn hell.

I have been thinking of writing since last week, and sort of feeling ideas but nothing's come out yet. I have E&O open right now and I'm kind of poking at it, and oddly satisfied with what I have so far. Which, since I've been writing this damn thing since 2008, I should loathe it with my entire being, so that's good?

Fuck it, why can't I always be in the headspace where the right words just come without me even needing to think about it, god.

(although, in my defense, I moved and my computer was in storage for over a year, and by then I'd forgotten about it/given up on it, until I was transfering all my files to my new-ish laptop in...January? and started writing it again.)

Oh, the ideas...! I have a couple of really spectacular ones, and several different directions the fic could go in, I just can't pin down the one I like the best. And, you know, I did end up writing something but I can't use it yet. My brain hopped right over where it's currently stalled and now I have about five hundred words of the boys fighting. IDK. I think I'll email it you tomorrow because you deserve it. fffff why can I write stories normally.

oh and, I even wrote a little bit more of The Swan, and came up with some neat ideas for that 'verse. So it was a sort of productive evening, all in all.

It was bad enough looking for a place to live when I was moving to different part of the same state, oh god moving across the country must be 1000x more of a pain in the ass. :( Could you maybe just find a temporary housemate situation and put your stuff in storage while you look? That's what I'm planning to do in the spring. Because I after I signed the lease on the place I lived in on the coast, I found about three or four places that were as nice for less money, or with added benefits such as cable and water included in the rent, etc.
