IRL is made of drama, I feel like smacking bitches, I actually managed to talk to the one person I ever talk to IRL about some of the shit in my life, only hers is skewing even more batshitwards (said person is essentially an American clone of purplestocking, only Irish-American rather than Yorkshirelass, and with a sometimes-attached five-year-old who she keeps offering to sell to random passersby. Seriously. I am talking 'if you put them in the same room the world might end' levels of similarness.) We have an arrangement next friday night and I am hoping I get to buy her lunch sometime before that because god knows I can buy good people some fucking lunch right now.

WHAT I REALLY HATE IRL TODAY, FYI, IS PEOPLE WHO THINK THAT OUTING OTHER PEOPLE IS OMG SO EXCITING MOSTEST FUN THING TO HAPPEN TO THEM ALL YEAR. I ESPECIALLY HATE NOT BEING ABLE TO INTERVENE IN ANY WAY WHATSOFLYINGEVER, NOT EVEN TO SMACK DOWN MISGENDERING. :(

I joined your blog after a comment you left on Seth Finkelstein's blog. I don't understand any of it. But I've just been paid, and it says on my paycheque that I'm duty bound to bring positive feelings to anyone who feels like a "giant bruise inside". So have some positive feelings.

Oh, hey. This is almost entirely a personal journal and I don't write much of import here, and I only left it as an address over at Seth's out of habit. I used to keep a real blog (or two) but am not doing so at present. Rage is an exhausting hobby, especially if you're trying to hold down a job or two at the same time.

But thankyou! I shall try to get more sleep. I have had a really confusing year and am both being busy and having lots of emotional lurches, so sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. Such is life. I shall go check out your blog now <3

I have a hunch this is the most real blog you've written... ;-) I certainly didn't come here expecting libraries of erudition. But I've seen enough TV and read enough comics to "know" the good guys win by working as a team. So I've come for the teamwork.

(Although, don't the villains work in teams, too? So maybe we're villains.)

Oh ugh. What is it about human beings? People these days have no sense of boundaries and feel entitled to know everything about anyone, and nevermind if it's none of their business. I partially blame Facebook oversharing for this mentality, but also parents just don't teach their kids basic politeness anymore. *hugs*

Yyyeah and I suspect it is the absolute worst for trans people, because an overwhelming majority of public knowledge about them is completely dehumanising. I was venting to M about the situation and he said it probably was the most exciting thing to happen to my straight married lady supervisors all year. :/ And they just clearly have no idea about basic things like pronouns. I don't think any flack has got back to the guy yet, but it seems obvious that he didn't want anyone to know, and now they do, all because of the wider bullshittery that means his legal name hasn't changed yet.

Weird thing is, my current workplace is stunningly safe compared to every other place in GA I've ever worked; hell, one of the managers was bitching on Sunday about how many people had requested time off for Atlanta Pride. Our boss is a crazy gay Republican and given that he's out, I guess no one else bothers staying in, and there is nothing the batshit christians can say about it. But, being relatively safe about all things gay is NOT the same as being safe about all things trans. *facepalm*

Siiiiiiiiigh. Yes, that would be massively frustrating.

I wish people could at least try to have some empathy and compassion. I've listened to many self righteous tirades on this topic by family members and people at work. Thankfully not about one particular person, but just when the subject somehow comes up.

I am trying to wrap my head about gay + Republican. Wouldn't you just go for the independent label if you found yourself agreeing with Repuplicans on some topics, like, idk, taxes or immigration? Because otherwise, talk about conflicting ideologies.

Call me cynical, but I'm honestly surprised there aren't more of them. I mean, facts:
-The Democrats do fuck-all for LGBT people. They sometimes talk a good game but then let the religious right scare them out of doing anything.
-there are multiple components to identity. This particular guy is an older white guy from a military family, and he earns decent money - exactly the kind of person who almost invariably votes Republican. Because the Democrats do so little for LGBT people, there isn't any real reason to go against everything else and vote for them, is there?
-the only thing the Obama administration is really claiming as a victory for LGBT people is the repeal of DADT, which the Obama administration didn't actually bring about themselves; it was the result of a lawsuit brought by...the Log Cabin Republicans. In other words, it's entirely possible that LGBT people can further their own activism better by being Republicans than by being Democrats.
