-I have what the Americans (enthusiastic self-diagnosers all, lacking as they do a functional medical system) tell me is a stress fracture somewhere inside my right foot, and my left foot has now started grouching in sympathy.

-even on lazy weeks I am so bad at my to-do list I don't even. :(

-posting drabbles; being reminded of how much I hate fandoms that're full of single-pairing comms. Nothing more than drabbles, sadly; poked at pyg a bit but I am still *headdesk* at my own notes, lol @ plotting out a fic that I am nowhere near good enough to actually write. Anyway. Drabbles. There's a couple of things I want to pursue further, because it is kind of amazing being in a fandom (even a shrinking, disorganised one) that's mad for a canon femslash pairing. *insert thoughts about how canonness is reinforced by the male gaze; we know Vanille is all over Fang because Vanille is the narrator and the camera is all over Fang. Oh and then there's all the boobgrabbing, upskirting and declarations of eternal love*

-I really need to rite moar but am just not doing well at getting words out; maybe it is too damn hot here, or maybe there is not enough else in my life, idk.

Eugh, stress fractures suck, not that I know from personal experience. Some of my favorite skaters have had them though. If they don't heal then they need surgery to prevent then from fracturing further.

enthusiastic self-diagnosers all, lacking as they do a functional medical system funnily enough this is true; my mom and dad have told me I have carpal tunnel, based on the weird pins and needles feeling and random numbness I sometimes get in my right arm and hand when I use my hand in a certain position. And the irony of that is they are die-hard national healthcare system = socialism conservatives!

But seriously I hope you don't actually have a stress fracture cause that would really suck. Also you don't give yourself enough credit for being as good a writer as you are--lol pot calling kettle.

Yeah - I mean, people self-diagnose everywhere but Americans seem way more into it than what I'm used to. I wonder a lot if it makes alternative medicine more respectable in the US than other places - people would rather pay $$ for some nutritional supplements/pointless joint manipulation and some hope rather than get charged $$$$ by their crook doctors.

I've found it surprisingly easy to mess with conservative Americans on that count simply because they're not used to having anyone shatter the illusion that America is the only place on earth & all those other places with actual healthcare coverage don't exist. So when I tell them how much I miss the NHS, how generally beloved it is & that no one over there wants to switch to the insane American system, they have to widen their worldview to accommodate this information. (I also love convincing people of how much money the US government would save by providing free contraception to anyone who wanted it. I guess this one works so well because it directs all the right-wing bugbears about welfare spending towards the only practical solution to this supposed problem.)

fff I have no idea what's up with my foot, only that it's a variety of stabby pain I've never felt before in my life, and that it's not gone yet but it's not as bad as it was a week ago. I'm on my feet a lot at work and I don't have health insurance so I don't have any choice other than to keep gently plodding along. The most annoying part is that I'm really craving exercise this week. I could swim, maybe? I miss skating a lot but now is clearly not the time to get back to it :(
