i want a pogohammer!
Thus far today I have toyed with my FFEX fic a little bit (but way less than it really needs), made DELICIOUS BIKKITS by abusing a Melting Moments recipe with ORANGE ESSENCE and GIANT CHOCOLATE CHIPS, and read more of Homestuck; oh god SO IMPRESSED by this page, because the joke is in the border of the panel rather than in the panel itself. This is totally worth wheeling out that Moonraker quote once again. (I try to write keeping in mind what David Wong said about writing - that ideally the reader should get payoff from every sentence, whether it's new information or WAFF or a penis joke or whatever - but I really like stuff that makes you work a little bit for the payoff.)
And now I must leave the house, because my fridge is out of everything, and Grendel is showing his objections to this by sitting on us. Grendel is heavy. dawwww.

LOL I am planning on stealing two lemons from work today so I can make lemon bars. I am a citrus fiend. ;)

a cup of flour
half a cup of cornstarch
half a cup of powdered sugar
a teaspoon of the random orange essence i got at target because it was on clearance for a dollar
IDK HOW MUCH CHOCOLATE CHIPS, I JUST POURED THEM IN UNTIL IT LOOKED NICE
The recipe I was butchering said to put all the things in in a specific order but I just put it all in a bowl and attacked it with my whisk for a while.
Bake at 350 for 12 minutes.
/is the most organised person ever
/also what is it about measuring cups? in my heart I prefer weighing things but that involves unpacking my scale and cleaning the scale pan etc etc
/THAT MOONRAKER QUOTE I LINKED TO SLAYS ME, JSYK //HEADCANONS FURIOUSLY

This recipe intrigues me--no eggs? Cornstarch? Powdered sugar? hhhm. There is supposed to be a purpose behind the whole adding things in a certain order thing, but when it comes to small batches of stuff it doesn't really matter. Dealing with it professionally on a large scale, though, yeah, you figure out there's a reason for it, ahaha. Not that I've ever fucked up a batch of muffins, ever.
Oh lol I know what you mean. I am not a fan of volumetrics myself, but sometimes it's just easier. And I hardly ever use my stand mixer because that thing is a pain to clean. I got it more because you can get attachments for it (I want the pasta maker and meat grinder attachment SO FUCKING BAD). When it comes to the general mixing of things, though, pfff, give me an honest wooden spoon or a whisk any day. Although I do concede defeat when it comes to meringue and buttercream. :p

Volumetrics seems like a crapshoot but I've got habituated to it since I moved here, partly because I kept seeing recipes that didn't offer any alternative.
I don't HAVE a real mixer, just an electric handwhisk. I recently discovered that I can do homemade smoothies anyway, just so long as I hold my hand down over a cup while whisking my strawberries and pineapple chunks together. I do kinda want to get a little mixer sometime - I so do not have the patience for making breadcrumbs with a cheesegrater any more, for one thing.

Well, what about peanut butter and banana? Or peanut butter, banana and honey? Or those peanut butter and cheese cracker thingies you get in vending machines? I SWEAR IT REALLY IS GOOD.
I've heard of a peanut butter sandwich concoction (I think it's more of a Midwest thing, cause I never heard of anyone doing this until a couple of months ago) of peanut butter, Miracle Whip, and Bacos. I wasn't able to credit it the first time someone described to me, but several people confirmed that it is an actual Thing. Now that sounds nasty.
I
putused to put sour cream n onion chips, or Nacho Doritos on my ham sandwiches. Or Ritz crackers and cream cheese. With sweet pickles and onions. Nom. But I don't eat ham anymore, crap. :(no subject
I am aware that I have rigid tendencies about what foods go together - partly because M will throw any fruit into any meal and i am all 'WAIT WHAT DID YOU JUST PUT STRAWBERRIES IN THAT STIR-FRY', when really most things just taste great - but peanut butter is still in the process of infiltrating my diet and I think I have a problem with it mixing with 'REAL FOOD' ie. fruit and things that are not either dessert or breakfast. Honey, however, goes in everything.

I have a bizarely open mind about food (considering my background) and I like almost everything I've tried, except the combination of prosciutto/melon/balsamic vinegar. Which is odd because adding ham to anything should automatically make it better (I am such a fail ovopescetarian with my abiding love of cured meat lol). But ham and melon absolutely do not go together. Oooh, but cilantro, mint and basil is good with melon, all chopped up fine with a little pineapple, maybe cucumber if you felt like it, and lime juice or rice wine vinegar--absolutely killer on blackened fish and shrimp.

1/3 cup peanut butter,
2/3 cup cream cheese,
1/3 cup butter, and
1/3 cup powdered sugar, beaten together.
Also you can make brownie batter and peanut butter cookie dough, and drop spoonfuls of the cookie dough on top of the brownies after they're about halfway through baking.
