aaaaaand, yesterday I sprained my foot really impressively. I'd call these shades of purple previously-unknown-in-nature, except that I am clumsy as hell and have sprained my ankles/feet many, many times before (though this one is pretty good ngl).

and of course it was at the weekend which is when I do my moving-around-lots job.

GAH.

I really hate not being able to go to a doctor or take time off work but. argle, USA. I have strappings and it's getting better fast (my feet are so used to this by now), and once I've got past sunday I can put it up for most of next week but argle argle do I suck :/

I am, however, in spite of dread and inability to feel anything back on wednesdayish, writing again (turns out you don't need feelings if your thoughts are batshit enough); unfortunately what I am writing is the worst thing ever.

FELLOW KLUTZY PERSON OVER HERE. Seriously, I once twisted my ankle walking over a flat, paved surface. I was wearing dollar store flip flops, but still. Sometimes I wonder why I decided to go into a profession where I am *surrounded* by open flames and sharp objects and puddles of water *and* grease.

It would be nice if I could see a doctor for my as yet undiagnosed, yet no less existant anxiety disorder. But the monies, they don't like me for some reason. :(

ARGLE. Thinking about healthcare in the US hurts my head. I am blessedly healthy but having to worry about how to cope with stuff like non-functional feet, not getting pregnant, etc, while having to avoid going to see a doctor is fucking annoying. And then there's the stuff that I should be worried about but can't be. Like pap smears and getting my tubes tied and fixing all my chipped teeth. :( And why does the US like to spend so fucking much on healthcare while providing such lousy care to so few people? This is the only explanation I've ever read that even kind of makes sense.

But don't you know that if we had taxpayer funded healthcare, we'd be socialists?!

What's so fucking despicable about Republicans is, in the recent midterm elections, all of them got elected by promising to fix the economy and create jobs, and the one thing they've been focusing on since taking office is making it harder and harder for women to find healthcare--see the defunding of Planned Parenthood. Because zomg, some Planned Parenthood locations provide abortions! In addition to providing preventative care, bc, and *resources for pregnant women who choose to remain pregnant*.

But no, we must SAVE THE BABIES AND PUNISH SLUTS. And the extremists who want to deny abortion to rape victims and women who's lives are in danger if they continue a pregnancy can all go diaf. A cluster of cells that merely has the *potential* to become a human life is far more important than an adult woman--but once that fetus is born, fuck it. It's not about saving babies; it's about keeping women in their fucking place.

Ever driven up I-75 from FL to GA and read the 'political' billboards as you go?

First - almost a tangent - you see the advertisements for strip clubs, sex shops and 'spas'. All the pictures of women posing, etc. Solely male audience.
Then there's one that reminds everyone on the highway that 'sex without consent is rape'. (I'd like to be appalled that people need telling this but it wasn't in my sex ed in northern England - and at least I got passable, if homophobic, sex ed. The billboard is there because there are people who need telling this.)
Then you get the zillions of anti-abortion billboards. Most of them are just plain bad science. It's all about how if YOU'RE pregnant YOU should be guilty for even thinking about not wanting to have a baby. Solely female audience.

The last one - and I wonder if it's gone, because I didn't see it on my last roadtrip - shows a little infant face and says; DON'T ABANDON YOUR NEWBORN BABY. Cherry on the cake of a the road's horrible photostory.

Thankfully, I have not. I take I-80 into Atlanta, so I have never seen those particular billboards, but I heard of one in Atlanta that said black babies were becoming an endangered species, supposedly because black women were the main ones in Atlanta who have abortions. Fucking hell, that completely bypasses ''lol wtf they didn't think that through very well'' to strait up horrifying.

We have a lot of prolife propaganda around here, like my personal favorite, the one with a baby looking surprised with the caption, ''I had a heartbeat when I was five weeks old?!'' You know what else is a few centimeters long and has a heartbeat? A cockroach.

I really wish I had the guts to say that to someone's face, just for the priceless look of *shockhorror* but all the people I know who are anti choice are people I would prefer not to be on their badside. Like coworkers. You know how it is. Privately I think they're all dumbasses but I don't like tension and drama so I just keep my mouth shut.

You will post it and I will like it and I will hate you because it's so much better than anything I write.
