working on my conspiracy theory:
You may recall that the US is slowly but inevitably sliding towards military rule. K.A. just linked to this (stunning photo, that), which was another click in the head - even peaceful and positive civil disobedience can be used as an excuse to create a junta.
(If I were a real writer I'd be using reality as a novel plot right now.)

...srsly, aside from a chance to get decent shampoo that costs less than $10 a bar (Lush stuff is cheaper in the UK than the US, as their US supplies are all made in Canada; Ting has been trying to persuade me to quit using shampoo, period, and that would probably be a good idea, as I must spend at least $60 a year on the stuff), the only thing I much want & don't have is a working MP3 player (small, with a USB charger because they're universal; and I once tried to write something about Ada having a total breakdown on the Circle Line while holding an empty 80gig ipod. Too much information, too many blank pages). The 2gig one I'd been using (which had been passed on by its original owner because it wasn't working very well) finally packed up in November. I never used it that often - just nightshifts and long walks - so I didn't miss it enough to prioritise replacing it, but it is a thing that I do not have and kinda want one of.
