The market in Decatur makes days good. I have juniper and mackerel and fivespice and many vegetables, fresh mint and bok choi, mangoes and a fruit we'd never heard of before but decided to try because it had a dinosaur sticker on it, muesli with cranberries in it, and many other things. That place makes my life better by providing me with things to eat that taste of food.

I don't ID as a 'foodie' or anything like that - that word makes food sound like a fricking hobby rather than a basic, banal aspect of having an adult life and culture. Making food is generally not fun for me, so it damn well better taste good once it's done. While I like variety, Thene Standard Fud is pretty basic; either pork or chicken, an onion and two or three other kinds of veg, pasta, and some form of flavouring that's damp enough to cover the pasta. There are outlandish detours like paprika eggplant fries (or aubergine chips to those of you who speak English), eldrich things out of recipe books, curry bought in jars or made from yoghurt and powder, fish in accordance with verse 60.

I'm prioritising good writing days more than I should. Today was one such day, but fff, within the world of good writing days I should be prioritising different things than I am anyway, but hey, it all helps me feel like a human being. Now to see if I can get anything else done, useful or otherwise, before bedtime.
