addendum:

Revalation Space is a wonderful book. As those of you who read my stuff know, I am generally a prose fetishist but this is pure clarity and logic and plot-weaving and the text itself has no pretensions, though (for plot reasons) the flow of time is jumping enough to (deliberately, I assume) unsettle. It's full of mysteries and frustrations (also DEATH BY SCIENCE) and I am loving it. Will rant more as I go on, I guess.
