brb rereading Lucian

M's on nightshifts, so I've been being alone for the first time in a couple of weeks. It's part of the same thing as not knowing what music to listen to; don't feel all that safe in my own head.

I don't like this week anyway - we're broke, the weather is awful and I am on the crappy marketing shit today-tomorrow, though Thursday will be back to me loving my job (and reading up on nonresident alien beneficiary estate rules, because I really am that bloodyminded). The good parts of today were a) being around Mr Q, who is currently near the top of my list of bearable Americans on account of being completely unpretentious & without illusions and so doesn't require me to have a social persona, and besides he takes me window-shopping for guns, b) spamthreads with the only awesome person who's active in LHM fandom, c) PANCAKES BECAUSE IT IS PANCAKE DAY though my strawbies are tragically underripe. :/

things I kinda want to blog about:
-The City And The City as a satire of immigration/border control
-amazing wedding, photos must be posted
-drunken filk and other unexpected con joys
-the future, or why we might not move to the northern US asap if we can move to London soonish instead
-Alastair freaking Reynolds


I have little time and no brain :( i just want to hide in bed with my dogs mostly.
