^that is basically what I am for in places like this, I figure. (insert rambling about Set.)
I spent a lot of yesterday nerding around (hence the discovery that emotional distress is taxable!) with a much older, rather traditional coworker who I've detected a little foxtardia from, and I took the opportunity to show her one of my recent discoveries from the books we have around; the stats for average Sch A deductions. tl;dr people on ridiculously high incomes - over $200 000 per year - donate a much smaller proportion of their money to charity than people who are scraping along at our level. (obv this is not news by any stretch, and it seemed intuitively familiar to her even if she hadn't seen it in black and white before). It's her first year of this. EIC is getting to her, so I have been talking about contraception; drawing the little connection arrows. She got pregnant on an expired IUS once! Oh joy.
I am pretty careful with new people & politics around here, but I have two pretty good rules when it comes to shitstirring smalltalk; a) legislators and parties do not matter, b) ideologies do not matter. We matter. We matter more than they do.
This job is inherently political and politicising. I'm sure that's one reason why I love it.
My head still hurts a lot, but things feel better; my job b paycheck was bigger than I had figured it, and while my job a one next week will be tiny M should have his backpay by then. We've been clearing up a lot, which always makes me feel better (destroying things for floorspace andpeace of mind). I need to make a new to-do list and then do it.
