Since when was 'immanently having to leave the house' filed under 'bad news'? :/ gah anxious fail. And while everything looked fine yesterday evening it's iced up again overnight - and when I took Grendel out this morning, my newly-washed hair froze solid, which is something I last experienced in East Lancs about 10 years ago.

Oh well. I get to do things, at least if we can manage to get the car out of the complex and on to the road, and that is good. I can write more porn later. I did get about 800 words yesterday, but I'm still worried about the massive unsexy; no longer sure if it was a good idea to write porn while reading long articles about Redemption Movement misuse of the US tax code. Stupid language bleed :(

Things learned from reading The Name Of The Wind by Patrick Rothfuss; it's okay to beat your spouse if they sleep with other people. GOD APPROVES.
thene: Naomi Hunter is very suspicious. (naomi)
Aside from the failbook of sueness that I was reading over lunch (yes I am saying that and I'm an LHM fan), yay! After I jumped through hoops this morning, it was discovered that the office manager was still snowbound due to treefail (...I won't even) and D.M. decided she had enough faith in me to pay me to stick around and catch the phone/door while she went out to do necessary lunching and chilling. In cash, though I did later sign stuff to get on the proper payroll. Yay! (If I get a 1099-MISC for this at this time next year I will kill someone.)

Bonus; I am getting used to D.M. Did I mention lack of discretion? I am against the word 'oversharing', I usually only see it deployed in the name of alienation (particularly in fandom, where some believe we are media consumers first, human beings with lives second, yes panfandom RP I am looking at you), but I am too English to be accustomed to knowing quite as much about my boss quite as soon as I do now. My other American employers have all been fairly private people, I guess...okay, so that includes one drug addict and one Log Cabin Republican, so maybe I just never found out what all the others were hiding? (baader-meinhof: I met someone on my training day last Saturday who recognised me from back when I worked for the junkie. That was almost 6 years ago. What, fucking small-town elephant Republicans.) But yeah, this one is an extraverted chainsmoker prone to gender-normative proclamations who I am filing under 'thatcherite' because she brags about not sleeping, and I have heard the whole catalogue of exes and currents and motorcycling injuries and oh dear god. I am wooden by comparison, but how else am I meant to protect myself? So. When I say 'getting used to', what I mean is 'am learning to take the batshit in stride'. It's going to be okay. Possibly even good. Yay.

I get a shift tomorrow too, and have a long shift at job a on Saturday, so at this rate we may even make the rent. *siiiigh* New job is going to help, a lot, but we are still pretty much fucked - I think I stopped being able to worry about it when I got sick and have not yet recovered that capacity. M was making 'dear god you need to turn your knowledge of the tax code into a job that pays actual money' noises earlier; being able to waltz into a job this way, even if only a seasonal one, is kinda a massive confidence boost in that regard. Idk, I honestly feel a million times better just from being paid to move numbers around again.

Now, to write more porn. I am an inch ahead of the curve, as I wrote a couple of hundred words this morning while waiting for the ice to melt. (Yeah.)
