...I hope so, anyway.

Fortunately, I've got into the right place; just fragile enough, I hope. It's partly lack of sleep, partly finding a couple of different places to push at myself from the inside. May be too tired to really make use of it until I've had a good night's (yes night's) sleep - will see.

Bonus IRL: we had a really lovely date-night a few days ago. We are boring and almost always eat sushi on dates, because it's pretty much the one thing we can't do any facsimile of at home - so. Let me tell you about this guy. I may have mentioned him before - he somehow manages to hold down a job at every sushi place in the area, and whichever one we choose to go to on a given evening, he will be working there. He's very thin and has graceful hands, probably part-Japanese (he has a ridiculously Scottish name), has the sort of long, sleek, tied-back hair that Ting adores.

Matthew thinks he's drop dead gorgeous. Yes, M is straight. I tend to think I'm not that into him but every so often he just makes me melt. Shy smiles may be involved. D'aaaw.

We saw The Men Who Stare At Goats and it was amazing and I wish Lyn was real just so I could hug him which is insane because he's played by George Clooney ffs. But really. Great film. Referenced attack bees, clear mark of awesomeness. Also I wish Nakki had been there because.

Much running around and telephoning failed to find the previous owner of that dear Jack Russell - she's microchipped but the sods never bothered to register it so it was still linked to a petshop not too far from here, which has now closed down, and though I called their corporate office number (kindly supplied by our wonderful local vets) we hit a total papertrail dead end. None of us have seen anything on Craigslist, or pinned to a tree in the area she was found. There is only so much you can do. What we have managed to do is find her a new home, with a friend of M's who will doubtless let us come visit regularly.

Here she is, standing on me while we were taking her to the vet to check her chip:

Things she likes: climbing on people, comfy cushions, hiding under my desk, dinnertime, being taller than the Grendel by means of climbing on my desk/the bed/the nearest person.

Things she does not like: being outside where it is cold, being directly approached by the Grendel...well, I guess there are few things she dislikes. Surprisingly agreeable for a Jack Russell. I am sure she will settle into her next home just fine.
